Slightly beyond the suggested aging year. Excellent Merlot. Took a half hour or so to open up and display the true flavours. Nicely paired with BBQ steak and grilled sweet potatoes.

2-1/2 Hour decant (min required IMHO) Good color. Cherry with a bit of smoke on nose. Bracing tannin and acid in the mouth. Cherry and good fruit as well. Medium finish. This has shown to be a Merlot with some longevity. Decant long and drink slowly. Enjoy.

85% Merlot, 15% Cab Franc. Decanted 1 hour - thinking it was already 7 years old. Mistake. Did not come into its own until 2-1/2 hours in decanter. Starts thin, acid and nose of green pepper. Not bad by 88 at best. In time it comes around to classic CDV Merlot (and Ioves me so CDV Merlot). Deep plum, cherry and cassis. The Cab Franc shows the house style. This one is longer lived than many in recent memory. Let it lie or let it breathe. 90+91. Will be more careful with remaining bottles. Excellent QPR!

85% Merlot, 15% Cab Franc. Med red to pale edge. Subdued nose, not much perfume compared to past vintages. Lighter body with prominent acids. Good blend and well priced at $17 but not up to standards of earlier vintages. Good everyday table wine.

Nose is dominated by rich dark fruit (raspberry, blackberry), with hints of black olive, thyme, and campfire smoke. Palate is slippery, with a medium-light body. Tannin-forward, with firm, crumbly tannins backed by persistent acidity. Strong, dark fruit flavours: blackberry, black cherry, and fennel, with emerging hints of more mature notes like balsamic vinegar, dark chocolate, and raisins. I've had this before and not liked it as much; this must have been a better bottle.
