Awesome aperitif bottle! Smooth, slightly on the sweet side. Could have really used some sort of appetizer to cut the sweetness a little, but still an excellent bottle on a summer night.

There is no reason to expect a 2009 Washington State Gewurztraminer would be over the hill in 2013, especially considering it is under a screw cap, and this one proved it. I am pretty sure the flavors and aromas have mature and developed since release. This wine is quite sweet. It is balanced with enough acid. The color is a glistering golden. The nose has spicy tangerine, honey, ripe melon, and wild flowers. Thick and unctuous across the palate, with orange, apricot, melon, honey, and maybe cinnamon. Just enough acid to keep the sweetness interesting. More spicy, honeyed richness on the finish. Think this should be served chilled.
