  • Clone 8, 14.6% abv. Dense, almost cloudy brick colour

Holding up well, despite the data points above.

Blackberry nose. Dark acidity, tannins well integrated; lingering blackberry fruit with a very little mineral. Good freshness

    Hold another 3-5 years

  • Fourth bottle. Even though this wine has lost to 2 others ('08 Shoup & WC, below), it's one I continue to love. Drank alone tonight, it amazed with every sip. Back up to 94.

3/1/15 update: drank side-by-side with '08 William Cole Claire Cuvee, which was better. The depth, here, was not as good and there was a bit of harshness that the WC did not have. Downgrade to 93.

5/9/2014 note: No notes. Split 6 ways at restaurant. Unmistakenly great. Nose, body, mouth feel, flavor, finish. All cylinders firing! Ready to drink. Can't imagine it getting better, but I'm generally not into 10+ yr aging for WA cabs. 95 pts.

  • Wow! big luscious, full bodied wine with aromas of dark fruit, cedar and spice, and mouth watering dried black cherry, blue berry, cedar, spice and dark chocolate covered espresso beans that linger on a long finish. Several 2015 reviews commented they didn't think it could get better, but I dare say it has. You could argue when peak might be, but there's no reason to wait on this one. Believe it or not, this would be good with chocolate lava cake!!

  • Opened with friends, no formal note. Nicely aromatic- showed notes of cedar and sweet spice throughout. Black cherry fruit on the palate, with secondary spice, tobacco and earth. Round silky tannins, rich and layered on the palate, with nice length on the finish. Very nice.

Washington Wine Report

  • By Sean Sullivan
5/12/2011, (See more on Washington Wine Report...) **** points

(Fidelitas Cabernet Sauvignon Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Red Mountain) Earth, vanilla, toast, and cherry on a wine that is still quite closed up aromatically. A big, chewy wine with abundant black cherry flavors. Needs time to come into its own but has it.
