  • Attractive fruit core of dusty apricots. This wine has probably reached its peak. Not a bargain - other than in the context of mature 1er cru burgundy.

  • Pale gold, well coloured; oatmeal & chestnuts, lacks clarity; medium weight, some depth & richness, decent cut. Lacks focus. Best drunk soon.
    Better with the Coley/Salmon.

  • Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: Drunk parallel to the 2009 Domaine Roulot Meursault Les Meix Chavaux. Clear, medium golden color. Clean, medium intense, developing nose. Spices, fine oak and nice mineral notes. Leaner and more mineral than the Roulot.
Dry, medium+ acidity. Even though it has a higher alcohol level (13,7% abv) than the Roulot it seems less hot, so it is much better integrated. On the palate good fine chalky mineral notes. Yellow and wihite fruit. Some musty notes that went away with air. Good backbone from the fine oak. Medium+, elegant finish. Not as powerful and muscle packed as the Roulot, more balanced and elegant. Also benefits from a bit of air, so give it time in the decanter. 92-93

  • Glass: Riedel Vinum Syrah
    Drunk over 3 days.
Like my first note from 2012: This wine is somehow difficult to describe and not really my wine. At first sip I would say it is an average Chardonnay from somewhere. But when you focus on this wine you can feel the energy, complexity, high acidity and wonderful integrated and balanced oak. It is really a very good Chardonnay which has still 3-5 years of time ahead, but I don’t think that it will improve much.

  • vertical tasting of 6 vintages plus 2 Meursault (1999 und 2005 same producer) ad wine professionals in amsterdam.

2007: (93) precise, nuts, marzipan, long finish, for me the best, potential to 94

2005: (92) deepness, concentration, good length, nuts, a little bit vanilla, missing the complexity of 2007, for me 3rd rank, at least 10 more years

2003: (90): very ripe, more like a New World Chardonnay, a little bit too broad in the finish, missing the acidity because of the hot year, for me 5th place

2001: (88) for the weakest of the 1er Crus, too sharp acidity, unbalanced and too broad, 8th place

1993: (91), still young and fresh, hardly oxidation signs, nut and honey, concentration, long finish, at his peak, 4th rank

1991: (92), still young, golden coleur, no real difference to 2001 in the same flight, nut, honey, roasted almonds, vibrant acidity, good length, drinkable for another decade, 2nd overall

2005 (Meursault): (90), good concentration and density, very well drinkable at this moment, good acidity, at least 5 more years, not so elegant as the 1er Cru Les Perrieres, 6th place

1999 (Meursault): (89), nice acidity, some kind of broad in the finish, nuts, at his peak, 7th rank
