Drank with dinner after a full day of tasting in Paso Robles. It was astounding how much this wine fell in the Paso character of much younger wines we had that day. Full of fruit and spice with a good powerful palate this wine was drinking very well. We both agreed that if we did this blind we would have guessed Paso Fruit.

Rich, fat, ripe, juicy, lush, concentrated and frankly delicious, the wine is all about its perfectly ripe black raspberry, kirsch liqueur, jam and spicy character. The finish really lasts and leaves a positive impression.

On the first night: the licorice is so thick and lingering you can just about smell it without opening the bottle. It reminds me of when I was a kid and I'd drink through a licorice straw. My whole house smells like licorice.
On the second: the licorice is gone but the fruit stays. It's syrupy and kind of a drag. I do like the big and bold CDPs but this one lacks finesse, all bass and drums, no theremin solos.

Popped and poured. Seamless and youthful. One of the bests CdPs I've had this year.

Very very spicy, leather, black cherries, licorice... very powerful, fruit bomb, leather, painfully young (94+/100)
