  • Clear light garnet. Medium nose of ripe blackberry and a little dirt. The palate is relatively robust for a poulsard, dark berries and stone fruits, and more dirt, but with a typically ethereal quality, and a light tingle. The finish is a medium and more refreshing than the palate. To my experience this is a relatively full-bodied and -flavored example of the grape, clean and well-made but with plenty of character remaining.

  • decanted this time and it made a big difference, although i also think it was simply a better bottle. this one showed a clarity and precision that was missing from the first bottle, delicious blood orange fruit played a secondary role to the foresty leafy underwood sense of the wine. delicious and compelling poulsard, one of the best on the market here in the US.

  • i think the most mineral of any poulsard that i've tasted. there is some fruit - blood orange and cranberry, but it's in the background, and the prominent feature of this wine is a savory mineral tone. it is intense wine and still very graceful - the old vines in action. not sure yet if i love the wine or am more fascinated by it.
