Like the 2005, this was made in a more classic style than I expected. Having had a few "international" style wines recently, it came as a welcome relief. After not the most expressive nose, mostly blackcurrant and cedar, there is quite a ripe attack, with oodles of dark cherry, then a thick, full-bodied middle section of cool blackcurrant, very smooth but with a good earthiness that reminds you that this is a Pessac-Léognan, then the ripe cherries come back for the finale, which is long, persistent and satisfying. With time, raspberries and blackberries join in the fun, giving some interesting complexity. The finish is still a little tannic so it will improve further but this is one of best Louvières I've had.

After more than 3 years it has distinct animal and leathery notes which takes away other tastes a little. Which is a pitty for me. But you can still taste nice notes of black fruits with combination of smoke, vanilla and graphite. Balanced, with medium fine tannins and acidity.

(Château La Louvière) Very dark red violet color; appealing, pencil lead, tart red currant nose; suave, tart red currant, green olive, mineral palate with fine tannins and medium acidity; medium-plus finish 90+ points

Very tannic and extracted, still dark, touch of prune on the nose. OK with food, but no fun or refinement.

Medium ruby in appearance
Evolved and pronounced nose of black fruits, scorched earth, tobacco and some vanilla.
Medium bodied with plenty of structure and acidity and great flavor concentration with a medium plus and delicious finish.
This will hold for another decade if stored properly , but why wait!
