Deep garnet with rich, high optical density and medium specular reflectivity. Aromas show nice intensity and some depth, with sweet pipe tobacco, black liquorice, and some sous bois underlying some black cherry and raspberry fruit. A bit of volatile acidity around the edges. Overall, a balanced and appealing nose of a nicely aged wine. On the palate, medium in body and acidity, with a very dry framework and still firm, but integrated and finely grained tannins showing on the back end. Shows some nice concentration to the medium density mouthfeel.
Flavours of dried rose pedals and dark cherry on the attack, with strong intensity. Lots of tertiary forest floor and dried leaves, along with some dusty cedar and light earthy spices that fill in the midpalate. The finish shows elegance complexity, with dried leather and black liquorice and medium length. Overall, very nice intensity and medium plus complexity.
This is a nice, elegant, and structured Barolo with excellent vinous character. A dark and brooding profile that still somehow comes off as light on its feet. Rounded and approachable at this point, but with enough structure to hold together, I would think this is ready to go, and makes a really great food wine, but also totally enjoyable on its own. Classically elegant and well made!

Deep rose with ruby at the core and amber at the rim. Interesting array of aromas, with red (and a touch of black) licrorice, cherry, sweet tobacco, and a savory twist of citrusy pine forest floor. Light on the palate with a fleet, dancing body and a dry and firmly tannic character. Fun and playful on the front end before turning quite serious. Really fresh acidity and a fine, elegant texture that shows very grippy tannins. Flavours on the attack of cherry and tobacco, with some black licorice coming on top. The fruit carries the midpalate before some spices and hot fruit add some momentum. Some very fine, elegant, and delicate fruits are hidden just below the surface. The final transition has the tannins take over and clean the fruit with a flourish of tar and tobacco spices. Finish is medium. Overall, the complexity is medium minus with intensity that is pretty high.
This is a very nice Barolo, very serious and well made. Very young at this point, but also quite welcoming in a very strange way. Such grip and such structure with a dancing stride and some vivid fruit makes for an interesting wine. Not a complex monster here, but actually a quite interesting one. With a ton of elegance, this makes you worth to puzzle out those flavours, but not a rich and concentrated wine. Classic Barolo, and a very great deal! Would hold this for a few years yet!

Drank over two nights. Much better the second one. Needs lots of airing to show its hidden aromas and flavors.

Atypique mais très agréable. Ça m'a fait penser à un mélange de Bourgogne et de Madiran :D
