purchased at the Estate in 2003. P&P. eye: garnet red, opaque in the middle, 3mm fading (with some bricking on the rim), sediment. nose: black cherry, cedar, raw venison, ashes. palate: medium to full body, enormously balanced, 18 Caudalie, a very 'old school', elegant and enormously pleasing mature Bordeaux blend. drink now!

Opened with grilled pesto rosso pork tenderloin. Unfiltered wine took some preparation before serving (standing, filtering, decanting, breathing) but was well worth it. Terroir came out as usual but really good structure of the blend.

SE London South African offline (James P's house, Bromley, London): Notably more elegant and sleeker and classic (Bordeaux) than others. Notes of tobacco and some greenness. This continued to get better over a couple of hours. Lovely.

Eclectic mix - Pinot, Pinotage, Merlots and Cabs (SA, France and US) - Blind Tasting with full MOT scoring (In the Cave at Home): Classic SA Cellar muskiness with a medicinal touch. Good body with a moderately finish. I think this could still lie down for a few years.
