Decanted for over 1 hr. Translucent garnet purple. Initially after opening, muted aromas with tart cherry flavors. Now much more open with ripe black cherry, blueberry, bark, earth, and anise like aromas. Almost as if you took crushed black cherries and ripe blueberries and mixed them with rooibos. A bit of alcohol on the nose. Palate has gained some weight with more black cherries and unripe blueberries pumping through a midpalate of earthy bark, spices, and ?pine needles. Nice finish w/ almost a non-sweetened barq beer type finish. Nicely done. 14% abv. Branciforte Creek Vineyard was planted with Pino in 1988 by Dave "Woody" Wood and Dr. Jenny Choate Wood.
