  • Stood up for 3 wks. Decanted off fine sediment. Now 2h after decant. Lovely aromas of red and black cherries, eucalyptus, bark and the barest hint of brothy sous bois. Palate w just ripe red and black cherries, bark, a bit of forest floor, eucalyptus, herbs, lots of minerals. Mild tannins on midpalate w excellent acids on a medium- full bodied frame. Fresh and even young tasting despite it's 14 yrs. With more air, the wine becomes better balanced w a baking spice component that comes through. The wine becomes more balanced, more complete. This is evolving at a snail's pace. But it's lovely still. Will try to wait until 2027 for my last bottle.

  • Seemed to have more freshness than the last bottle to go with the dried red fruit and herb tones. I think I'll stretch out the remaining 6 bottles longer than I had planned. This is quite spicy, firm, concentrated and even powerful.

  • Doing very nicely. Savory and firm. Perhaps approaching peak but would hold for 5+ years at this level... should be a long and graceful decline that many wouldn't consider a decline at all. We shall see.

  • Nice stuff. Seems to be at its peak now. Drink up!

  • This wine is evolving very slowly, but the concentration is now on full display. Surprisingly sweet and potent fruit on the nose upon opening. Fruit has a much darker profile now as well, but I don't expect that to be the case forever. The wine took a couple of hours to settle into the more savory characteristics with which I am formerly acquainted. I think a bottle a year for the next ten years is called for, although stretching it out even longer might be even better.
