This was less crusted and less deep in colour than most vintage port but was robust and rich on the palate. Did I detect hints of cabbage veering to drains which presage an imminent break-up? It was only faint at this stage and no one else complained; it did detract from the wine's classiness but did not prevent its being a good pairing for Stilton and Shropshire cheese. Good still.

Semi-fine v port. Quite bricked, smoothed and nutty, approaching the lightness of a tawny but with additional (meaning some) fruit still showing. Cherries, currants, licorice, no leather. IMHO. Hard to say about the drink dates--1994 was a super year, but I can't imagine that these bottles will improve much over their current states -- that said, this note suggests that at least my attitude has improved since opening a similar bottle 6 months ago. ;)

Monthly tasting club "The Tasting Club" 2022-1; Vintage Port (@ RvD by PvL): Smoky bouquet with figs and raisins. On the palate pleasant sweetness and good acidity. Ready now.

Spicy, mint, plums. Lot of power, well balanced. Seductib=ve and kicking and alive.
