  • This is very nice Syrah made by a quality winemaker from the tank and the barrels that didn't make it into the regular blends. There's some beautiful black fruit here along with some just barely ripe material that is actually quite delicious six years later. There are also nice notes of asphalt, spice and green leaves. Too bad there aren't more Washington Syrahs made in this style or more wine makers who know what to do with this type of material. Excellent.

  • This wine is 100% syrah from the lots that went into the regular 2002 Rulo syrah and the 2002 Silo syrah. It was sold at the winery in 2004 for something like $11. We drank it alongside a 2003 Silo with a marinated and charcoal seared flank steak. It had an interesting syrah nose with black fruit and what the always reliable and discerning Mrs. No Spit described as green olives. The palate was well balanced with tasty black and some more tart red fruit. As the wine opened the finish, while not long, became very smooth with fine tannins. A very nice syrah for a price we will never see again.
