  • Pulled from the depths of Noble Rot's cellars after the wine we asked for (a much younger Chassagne) turned out to have been sold - a happy accident. Deep straw suggested maturity rather than oxidation, and that is what we found. I don't think I've had a wine particularly like this one - an unusual combination of a delicate, herbal nose and beginning on the palate, surprisingly bitter nettley sensation just before the finish, and long creamy aftertaste - but it was a definite success and matched well with our Comte and ham spaetzle.

  • From a bottle purchased on release, this wine had a gold center and clear rims. After 3 hours of air it had a medium+ intensity nose of citrus, vanilla wafers, white stone, and apples.

In the mouth, this wine was rich and creamy with a wicked citrus acidity that carried into a very long finish.

The power of this wine was a surprise given the relatively deep color. It is certainly ready to go and arguably 95 points. Impressive!

  • wow, clearly stored well. Yes, it's past peak and should have been drunk 10 years ago, but this is still delicious and hard to put down. Rich but beautiful lemon flavors. Layers and layers of nutmeg and other spices. Needs some air but wow this is really a treat. Such a surprise as I assumed it would be long dead.

  • Mold on top of cork, but wine was in very good shape. Rich palate with earthy bouquet and well integrated oak.
