Tuscan WIMPS (La Trompette): Like London buses, I'd not tried this producer then three bottles come along within 24 hours. This wasn't hugely demonstrative in the glass: dusty, earthy strawberry with an umami anchovy note and a touch of VA. Still seems to be developing on the palate: some tannic bite, bright acidity and a sweet chewy texture. Maybe the most 'traditional' winemaking of the three vintages I've tried - more recent bottles seem more overtly natty.

Opened 3 hours ahead and enjoyed in MG. Cold and quite fresh in the expression, with a great complexity. Medium to medium+ tannins and acidity, but perfectly integrated. It delivers sour cherries, cranberries, leather and a clear earthy note. The balance is terrific and the aftertaste strong and quite long. Right in the middle of the drinking window I would say. A small 95.

Excellent raspberry/cherry flavor with a lovely and balanced acidity. The flavors are still indicating a young wine and there is still a good expression of harsh tannins. Overall, it indicates that it could easily continue to improve but I would consider it as close to its peak. At least before it start to develop the more tertiary flavors.

Wow, this was so nice. I read about it and got a couple of bottles some years ago. But I was surprised that it was so nice. Decanted 2 hours. Drank over 2 days. Dark, dark brick red color. Nose full of cherries. Palate is very good with lots of cherries, raspberries, spice, focused and very good balance, tannins, acid. Long finish. 2006 continues to deliver.
