Community Tasting Notes (3) Avg Score: 91 points

  • Medium-dark brick color. Nose of beef, must and tart cherries. With decanting, this expands to include orange peel, flowers and stone fruit aromas. Palate is tight and tart at first, with a woody, tannic finish. With time, this rounds out to include a subtly fruity note, accented by a mineral aftertaste. This is drinking well enough now but benefits from some aeration. I was able to pick this up for about $30, and at that price it is relatively solid mature Burgundy, though I'd be reluctant to chase this at the nearly $65 Community valuation.

  • I wish wine critics awarded 87 points to the wine like this all the time. Surely helps keeping prices in check. Another remarkable effort from Prieur. Unheralded vintage but great wine nevertheless. Fully integrated oak, tannins and Burgundy funk all the way. Tremendously long finish. If you scored those bottles at Stonehenge cellar sale last year you are one lucky dog!
