200 Burgundy Grand Crus from vintage 2000, 4-day blind tasting (Singapore): Ripe and rich, but lovely balance, strict, plush but not oxidative like some of the earlier wines. A touch dry on the finish preventing a higher score, I may be stingy here but my measurements are how the tannins of top producers are made today.

Medium dark, ruby. Fine red berry fragrance, soft spice, a little dusty, only a hint of earth. Super refined, lovely. Silky smooth, soft ripe black and red berries, light hint of earth and cherry zest. Overall impression of ripeness and refinement, an elegant wine. Tannins are smooth and creamy, have certainly softened. Youthful fruit profile, many years ahead.

Very dark berry liquor and spices. Nice secondaries and more accessible than the 2003 tasted side-by-side. Drier on the palate than the nose suggests. After decanting and a looong wait (think days not hours) this wine showed very nice dark cherries and lots of licorice and other spices.
I have yet to find a Dugat-py Chambertin that’s open and accessible upon a pop and pour, and this one’s no exception. Don’t waste your time and funds on these. Buy the Mazis, instead.

The 2000 Dugat-Py Chambertin Grand Cru had aromas of sweet meat, earth and compost. It was full and sweet with tannins that were somewhat more gentle than most of the other wines.

Chambertin Dinner with Lieu-dit Cru (Inovasi - Lake Bluff IL): Tasted single blind. First time I have ever tasted Dugat-Py Chambertin. Poured alongside its vintage contemporaries from Leroy and Rousseau, it was comically easy to tell which was which - you could smell the Leroy immediately once poured, and this Dugat-Py was one of the darkest colored red Burgundies I have ever seen. Obviously served in a great flight, but frankly my least favorite. Black fruit throughout, not particularly forthcoming despite several hours in a decanter. Spice started to assert itself from middle through finish, but still overwhelmed by the wine's tannins. Didn't really evolve or improve in an hour+ in glass. For me it is unclear exactly how this wine will develop...but again, this was my first ever Dugat-Py Chambertin.
