  • Found in the drink now pile, probably been there for several years

Now mature, and redder fruited than 6 years ago with green pepper, iron, some cassis, and still with some acidic crunch to it. The fruit has a roundness, but it has not fallen into fatness and with a cooler bell pepper savory slant. It is fully mature and on the downslopeforf sure. It has become more subtle and while not terribly layered or complex, it gives quite a bit of pleasure. Ripe fruited and supple, yet with enough acidity to keep it fresh, and the layers it had in its youth are blending into a more subtle wine that is fading gracefully. It's still very enjoyable, and I would be very happy drinking this by the glass in a bistro. 87pts

  • PnP, it displayed a loamy, 'shroomy bouquet, in a good way, on the palate it was well balanced, with enough dark fruit to balance the restrained tannins, which seemed naturally present, no obvious presence of oak.

Good wine, good QPR, would go great with grilled steak or lamb.

  • Began to open after 15 minutes with an utterly enticing savory bouquet, which morphed into more traditional notes of lead pencil after an hour. Medium bodied with round, rich tannins on the palate, flavors of cassis and some tobacco, and a medium+ finish. A most perfect pairing with steak and black pepper.

  • The cork has wine very close to the top on three sides. This is a nice step up from the 2008. Soily and slightly reductive aromas. Even feeling palate with nice fruit concentration and almost crunchy acidity. Medium, building tannin. The fruit is a bit wrapped up but it fills out over night. Less extraction than some of the Joguets but not completely lean. Pretty good and will need a couple more years to show its best but the wine stains on the cork are worrisome.

  • youthfully dark, with an initially introverted nose of iron filings, green pepper, plum, cassis, and lots of rocks. Medium full bodied and very well balanced. This fleshes out over time and rounds out nicely, all the while keeping this excellent savory-herbal-earthy background. I am certainly in my exploratory phase of the Loire, but I cannot help but love the flesh and forward (for Loire Cab Franc) nature of the fruit in this vintage that blends beautifully with the savory and structured components of this wine. I love the leafiness of this wine that has not had any austerity measures put in place. This is very long and quite complicated for the tarriff. Maybe some day I will think less of this style of vintage, and appreciate more classic vintages, but right now I very much enjoy this wine that pleases both my senses and intellect. Really enjoyable and I bet will kill it with the Flannery hanger steaks that are about to join the fray. 89pts
