  • A few with Indian Food (Cafe Tandoor): One of the last bottles purchased on release at a great discount when ZH switched its Ohio distributor. Paid $18. It might be a bit past prime, but perhaps just a bit different. This is before the indices I believe. I recall it having a bit more rs, but if so it has faded. This bottle drank just slightly off dry. The cork crumbled on removal and was difficult to get out. Golden, a bit deep in color. The nose is very nice with lychees, some minerals but overall quite clean and no petrol. On the palate, pretty much dry with just a hint of sweetness. The lychees carry thru but finishes a bit bitter. It really worked well with an assortment of Indian food. That said, I would drink these sooner than later depending how you like them.

  • Been almost 3 years since I checked in w this. Still drinking beautifully. Residual sugar might be a bit more apparent today as some of the freshness/acid has faded. Probably shouldn't hold this much longer.

  • Ditto my notes from last time I tasted this Alsatian beauty. It's still extremely vibrant--the acidity is almost piercing it's so alive. Peaches, stone, great minerality. An excellent example of a fine Alsatian riesling that's only now coming into its own.

  • Stunning! The color of princess urine. Gorgeous sexy nose of ripe peach, apricot, white flowers and petrol. In the mouth, nectarine, peach, stones, and iron. Lovely acid, great minerals, and a finish that does not quit. Texture is on the heavy side and uniquely alsacian. Hard to mistake this for a German riesling. This is the good stuff. Zind rarely if ever disappoints.

  • Drank at wine tasting with Ned Towle in White Plains, NY. Wine had very floral nose, with very strong hints of petrol-as expected. The wine was extremely complex, very intense fruit--lots of peaches and apricots--with great acidity and balance. The wine is still a baby, but was showing its age a bit due solely to its pretty golden hue. Not a subtle wine in any sense, but for those who love riesling, it will not disappoint. I look forward to tasting this wine again in several years.
