Upon opening this seems a touch bit oxidative which seems to be house style ( motsly Chard around 2/3 with rest PN in most vintages with some oak ageing) but with a little air it starts to fire on all cylinders. Ripe yellow apples, tropical fruit and a solid mid palate and bass notes. Definitely more on the serious side of the vintage with nice acidity which results in a fairly long finish with some nice mineral notes and that after the rain wet stone thing going. Definitely worth giving this some air to show it's best. Quite complex.

Appelen, gist, perenstroop een vrij belegen indruk. Bij de eerste slok komt de mousse opsteken. Vivant doch zeer zacht. Zeer mooi in balans en een afdronk die zeer zachtjes wegebde.

Metalic at first, very dry, chalky, hard minerals, quite austere, very taught, nervy, very drying finish. This was just to austere and lacked finesse. Bubbles were slightly rustic. Surprising for 2002. Compared with others that were much more classy, including Selosse OV and Jacquesson 733. At Eric's; from Verzenay, 65% chard, 35% pn; 40% in old oak, no malo, rest in stainless.

Had this bottle with sushi. This was an excellent bottle but it was not spectacular and did not stand out as much as I thought it might. Flavors of golden apples and ripe pear were there and the acidity was ok but the style is a little rich (which is fine). There was a good bead on this wine and it had light minerality. I expected more from a GC 2002 but it was still a very enjoyable drink. 90+

Oxidation in the nose but not in the mouth. Brioche, acidity, initially slightly agressive bubble. Very nice.
