From magnum. Deg. July 2014. 74% Pinot Noir, 14% Chardonnay, 10% Meunier. Dosage, 5g/l. This showed very well, but a bit young today, needs much more time to fully express itself. Nose with red apples, slightly oxidized tones, spicy vanilla, and citrus zest. Palate with fine pinot Noir dominated profile, red apples, touch of vanilla spices, some pears, cherries, citrus with a long finish. Will definitely gain a point or two from cellaring, and has enough oomph to last quite a few years. (90 – 92+)

Gold in colour, very fine bead. Agree with the previous review - a full nose of red apple, splash of citrus, brioche and note of oak. For a 2006 it seemed a bit developed but I think that is the oak treatment. It reminded me of the 2005 Francis Boulard Extra-Brut which was similarly powerful, weighty, smoky and full of red apple, matured fruits etc. This is quite a complex champagne, but much brighter than the 2005 Boulard. Serious and good.

(René Geoffroy "Empreinte" Brut) ($66.00) Disgorged 2/11, and will ship soon. It’s the best version of this wine in many years. 76%PN – 10%PM – 14%CH – all ’06, 78% in wood, and 54% malo, interestingly! A fetching, appealing fragrance; it has the roundness of ’06 and the pork-belly smokiness of Cumières. But the best ‘06s have a chalky-fennely side I didn’t anticipate. This is a very dry Champagne that gives a warmly generous pleasure, while still being scrupulously detailed.

Sharp aromas combine on the nose with some round fruits to create a fun, complex nose. On the palate, round with earthy notes and lots of pleasure.
