  • Robe bourgogne très foncée. Sur des arômes de tabac, fruits noirs, fruit confit et épice. Encore du corps, astringence présente, décanté 1h.

  • Drank it on-board Voyager of the Seas during my family vacation.

Crimson in colour with an explosive nose of wild violets, ripe cherries and plums with some tobacco, espresso and dark chocolates.

On the palate the wine is well integrated with notes of concentrated dried prunes, cigar box, mocha and the distinctive black pepper in the finish.

Good wine with good composition and finesse.

  • NEWTS Tasting. D'Arenberg - Style over substance or substance over style (Newcastle upon Tyne): Part of the shared earth initiative, this single vineyard has pure, driven fruit throughout the wine. The nose is more blackcurrant and spice.

The palate is big, rich and integrated. The tannin creeps up on the finish to give some dryness and rigidity. The soft fruit is carried very well and the alcohol is barely noticeable.

Very well made wine. that's thoroughly pleasurable and drinking very well now.

  • Huge nose, cassis, anise, spice. On the palate some black cherry, mocha. Very complex, rich tannins, long finish. Stunningly good wine and surprisingly approachable despite its youth

  • This will be one TN about three wines. Special cuvees, which usually are part of the final "Dead Arm". The three wines are "The Little Venice", "The Eight Iron Scarce Earth Single Vineyard" and "The Fruit Bat" The Little Venice is from vines planted in 1998 and the result is a concentrated and juicy wine with elegance and a lot of good bitterness. I score it 91. The Eight Iron Scarce Earth Single Vineyard is planted in 1960 and a little more concentrated with even more fruits and luxurious oak and I score it 92. And finally the Fruit Bat, also planted in 1960. Beautiful bouquet with Northern Rhone like minerality, elegance and a lot of complexity. I scored the Fruit bat 93 because of its complexity. I am really happy I had the opportunity to taste these three cuvees separately, and although I did not taste the 2009 Dead Arm, I am sure this must be a splendid wine.
