  • This is a fine old bottle that has really come alive with air. It's got a classic Shiraz violets and eucalyptus/American oak nose with plummy fruit and savory balsamic aromas. Still robust but nicely resolved with a clear-running texture, there's a rusty edge to the tangy currant fruit with more eucalyptus and creosote notes. 13.5% abv in a ripe year, which is like 0.77 Mollydookers.

  • Dinner at Brasa. Light purple in the glass. I meant to decant this for a few hours before heading to the restaurant but forgot. While decanting would have likely opened this further it was still wonderful as is. Aromas and flavors of plums and blackberries along with a nice streak of minerality. Fine grained tannins. Will drink well for at least another decade. 50+13+13+9+9=94

  • A beautifully balanced great western shiraz of the highest order. Has the typical earthy spicy warm leather nose of great western, and it is in the palate though where this wine performs at the highest level with intense slightly earthy shiraz fruit coupled with beautiful depth and length that only old vines can give. A lovely wine that can happily give pleasure for another decade if you wish to hold

  • Smoke, dark chocolate, rich plummy fruit and higher toned minty/eucalyptus flavours coming together very seamlessly on a graceful, medium weight frame with bright acids and fine grained tannins beneath making it very easy to drink. It's a touch austere at first, but opens out and eases up with some time in the decanter, and it's lovely to drink now (though clearly in no danger of decline any time soon.)

  • Bill's Monthly Lunch - November 2011 (Vancouver, BC): Tasted blind – medium to deep red but showing hints of age towards the rim. Sweet blueberry nose with well integrated wood and notes of plum and hints of tobacco as well. Nose has decent intensity and richness going but had bits of secondary aromas that he me guessing a mid-aged Aussie wine (I thought around 10 years old). You’d expect a big and heavy mouthfeel after the nose but surprisingly you greeted with a medium weight very well balanced experience. Tannins are fairly well resolved and there’s decent acidity too. This is a really well put together and not over the top at all. These are the kind of Aussie reds I truly enjoy drinking. Drink now but have no problem cruising for another few years. Excellent.
