My final bottle, and very interesting to taste after almost 12 years. Not sure whether it was ever intended to age this long, but it has stood the test of time very well. Pale rose golden colour. Fresh and rounded, juicy red apple, citrus and strawberry fruit, elderflower, hint of honey and a whiff of blonde caramel, lively acidity and bright minerality, silky mousse, gentle and flowing style, lovely length. Very attractive.

Darkened to almost biscuity rose colour. Beautiful nose, lovely crisp balance of fruit with citrus acidity and enough soft smooth bubbly to make this rather special. Wish I could buy more aged Camel Valley.

Still going strong after seven years. Initial hint of reduction on the nose, delicious ripe red berry fruit, touch of smoke, hint of honey; highish acidity and ditto dosage deliver an attractive fruit cocktail on the palate, juicy and with the gentle intensity of age; mineral finish, very good length.

Brown Bag February: Wines that Made You go "Boom" ... (Boomerang, Boat Quay): Pale straw in the glass without lots of energetic beads. Light and refreshing on the palate with racy acidity, showing plenty of primary fruits, red berries. Very different from a Champagne, without the weight and complexity, but still not bad as an aperitif, simple.

Académie des Cinquante Champagne Tasting (Villa Oldenhoff, Abcoude, Netherlands): 100% Pinot Noir, medium loam soils, TA 9 gr/l, sulphur 70 mg/l, disgorged autumn 2010, dosage 13.8 gr/l. Very expressive nose, truffle and (raspberry and strawberry) jam, relatively sweet style compared to the champagnes in this tasting and far less mineral but attractive and rounded.
