Corney & Barrow Italian Wines Tasting (Pasta Brava): Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of fresh dark aromatic herbs, earth, ripe red cherries, redcurrants, red plums. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (16%!!!), fine high tannins, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of grilled bell peppers, sweet spices, ripe red cherries, redcurrant, red plums, sweet earth, licorice. Long finish. Very good quality. Big opulent ripe Bordeaux blend that is clearly a supercharged SuperTuscan. Definitely get this right in a blind taste. High percentage of ripe Cabernet Franc probably adding to the aromaticity and showy accessible black fruit on the palate. Very soft mouth-feel despite the high alcohol. Blend of 60% Cabernet Franc, 35% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Petit Verdot. Just about entering into drinking window. Can you imagine how good this will be in 5+ years' time with more age. I remember how good a 1999 vintage of this was. Bad QPR. Glad I got to taste this though. I like it!

Very young, spicy, grippy, fresh. Sweet red fruit, herbal, spicy - powerful and big but somehow elegant as well. High proportion of Cabernet Franc in 2010. Very long and persistent. Excellent, but needs time. 94-95+

A Matter of Taste: London Edition (Saatchi Gallery, Chelsea): A ripe nose of red berries; fresh and elegant, though surprisingly lighter weight and relatively unstructured, even so young (may come together better with time).
