  • Continuing to enjoy the evolution of this little classic. I agree with a previous note on this vintage that the mid-noughties preference for heavier wines - later picking, more extraction - was for me a slightly unwelcome departure from the leaner, more restrained traditional Reserva wines. But interestingly this one has evolved really well and at 14 years old is showing better than my previous two tastings. Good thing I've still got one left! This remains a fantastic wine, still young, fresh and vibrant. Beautifully integrated, oak, vanilla fragrances, tannin, fruit, leathery, spicy, delicious. Some real tension in there between the sweetness of the fruit and the savouriness of the spicy oak. Most enjoyable.

  • Possibly a little past peak, but still so good. Fruit was still there, but secondary and tertiary flavors stood out. Definite bricking. Lots of spice, high acidity, leather, long finish. Great with pizza. Last bottle over five years of enjoyment.

  • Lively red table wine. Generous nose, harmonious palate with juicy fruit and earthy secondary notes. Not going to improve, but still has some life left in it. Versatile and good value for the price.

  • Very aromatic, cherries, bramble, leather, vanilla oak. Full bodied and fruity, but a little candied on the PnP. Improved with air.

  • Deep, dark garnet with slight bricking. Aromatic blueberry, strawberry preserves and cassis. A little soapiness early on. Full bodied, chewy and integrated. Silky smooth and viscous. Secondary coffee and cedar. Menthol and citrus finish, reminiscent of a caipirinha. Dusty astringency suggests some more aging potential. Big and beautiful.
