Popped and poured. Medium golden colour. On the nose; hints of orchard and citrus fruits, but more prominently sea minerals, nutty caramel, vanilla and a little alcohol (also some oxidative notes, but nothing too intrusive). On the palate; opens up and fleshes out with some time in the glass displaying ripe, concentrated fruit backed up by refreshing acidity (as on the nose, however, faint notes of sherry and alcohol prevent this from being a truly memorable experience). Overall pretty intriguing, although clearly not an optimal bottle. Nowhere near the 93 Les Combettes I had a while back, but I guess one just has to come to terms with the fact that opening 20-year-old mid-tier pedigree whites is a game of chance with fairly poor odds.

Molded cork, but fresh on the inside. Raw smell of wet wool socks and grass, but quickly evolves into more classic meaursault. Appears slightly oxidized. But it clears up. Overnight it becomes beautiful on day 2. Wouldn't have my money on that before trying. 20 years old white performing just fine!

Fantastisk kompleks burgund, nær dessertvin. Trenger en del luft, dekanter i en time før konsum.

From memory: Way better than last bottle – the same rich fruit, nutty caramel and vanilla notes as before, but no signs of oxidation. Just brilliant!
