I usually think petite sirah has a very important role to play in the vineyard - plant it on the edges and let the birds and deer have at it so we don't have to drink it. But this one is special - there is no alcoholic heat nor is it clunky or flabby. It has acid, it has acceptable tannins, and the alcohol can't be felt. It is fruity but it doesn't smack you upside the head. Blackberry Licorice violets. The nose is an incredible perfume. Probably the best PS I've had. Drink up.

This is the 3rd bottle I've had.... last one before this was about 6 months ago. tasty but I think it's not getting any better at this point - will hold where it is for a while though. I was getting a lot more French oak then I recall in the past, which I would have like dialed back. Alcohol heat has really dissipated

Decanted and enjoyed over a 1.5-hour dinner at L'Abattoir in Vacouver, BC. Paired with chicken skins and snails, veal tongue & sweetbreads, and tendersirloin. Wow!!! Hot alcohol and blackberries in the nose, mineralized black cherries in the middle, med long finish with notes of toasted vanilla cherry and spice.
