A Southern Rhone wine that ages gracefully and comes with a compelling price tag. The wine displays a rosy hue. It has medium legs and light sediment present in the bottle. On the nose, there are aromas of black currant (cassis), minerals, dust, and stoniness. The palate echoes these flavors with pronounced black currant (cassis), stoniness, and mineral notes. The body leans towards medium/full, and it has a leathery texture. It finishes with a medium length and exhibits low acidity.

Fourth virtual CdP wine tasting (Skype): Wine 5 of 6: A pirate sneaked into the tasting by my friend, and it held its ground! Dark ruby colour. Cherry, mixed berries, spies, liquorice, and herbal notes, with medium-level acidity, lightly dry, medium-fine tannin, and very good length. Very mineral, slate-like. Well-balanced. More impressive on day one than on day two, back on track on day three. Still youthful.

This wine was smoking, and remarkably even better on day 2. First time I had the will to not drink it all in the first evening. Very concentrated dark fruit, fine tannin and a long finish. Just stunning, and an amazing complement to braised chicken with fig.

Weekly tasting group #196; Northern Rhône vs Southern Rhône (@ RW): Beautiful bouquet with good garrigue, red and dark berries and a pleasant touch of barnyard. On the palate red and dark fruits again, chocolate, licorice, herbs and spices, white pepper. Firm sweetness and also good acidity. Round tannin. Lush and concentrated. A touch of heat. Good length. Ready now and until the end of the decade.

PnP. This still has dark fruit with a layer of spice but softer and rounder. Nice.
