{screwcap, 13.5}Much richer and more luscious than in 2015; the green nose has disappeared, the fruit is plummy and rich with blackberry and chocolate notes. It's not especially cabernet-like; it's more in the generic category. Has low/medium dusty tannins, medium acid. Quite dense in texture, but not hot. Enjoyable on a visceral level, but not especially cerebral nor complex. But still good. Has plenty of aging (maybe some development too?) left; will cruise along for another decade easily I think.

{screwcap, 13.5%} Currant essence, with a dash of black olive. And maybe a passing whiff of asparagus too. The palate is sleek, similarly fruity, bolstered with polished cedary oak, tasting of a rather monochrome currant flavour, with medium acidity, medium weight, and a finish, which for all its commendable depth, doesn't really translate into the length you seek. Character-wise, it's true to Margaret River. Only the gentlest of powdery tannins support the palate, adding to sense of slippery smoothness. Tasted better the cooler it was. Seems a bit compromised as a flagship wine to me. Will easily 'age' longer; might not actually improve though. I could see a dull kind of stasis setting in, though. No rush, at any rate.

2012 Sydney Royal Wine Show - Exhibitor's Tasting (Olympic Park, Homebush): {screwcap, 13.5%} Aromas here are very grassy and herbal; here’s one flagship cabernet that doesn’t reek of oak. Somehow I wish it did… Well, there are some curranty notes here; and the palate isn’t nearly green or underripe as the nose might indicate. Medium chalky tannins, medium acid; this is no blockbuster but rather plays the elegance card. Slightly slippery oak helps with the medium-bodied weight; the palate is nicely balanced and the finish is medium length. A good wine but probably over-priced.

Full fruit flavor but lacks interest and was flat from my perspective

Elegant and refined. Not over-powering but has slight nuances of blackberries and mint/menthol. Very enjoyable Margaret River Cab.
