  Luca Ferraris Wine Social at L'Uva: Third wine tasted at the L'Uva Italian Wine Social featuring Luca Ferraris Wines, presented by Chiare Ferraris, wife of Luca. Retails in the $25 range. I have notes on the 2008 but not the 2009 Ruche from Luca. 2010 is the first year for Ruche as a DOCG wine in Italy. The perfumed nose on this wine is outstanding; like you are walking through a garden full of hibiscus, roses, violets, and cherry blossoms. Cherries and fresh berries in the glass followed by hints of peppery earth and clove-like spice on the finish. Strong acidity and more tannic than you think; lots of structure to this wine. Luca's Ruche is the only Ruche I have had the pleasure of tasting, 3 vintages now, and the 2010 is the best by far. I can't imagine Ruche gets much better than this, and so I have to assign it the coveted WineKnurd A+ rating :)
