  • {screwcap, 14%} Colour is still quite a dark ruby, but the nose is suggestive of at least a decade’s age. A perfect cabernet blend of currants, herbs, branches, twigs. Passing hint of black olive. The palate is quite loose-knit and mature, with low/medium powdery tannins and moderate acidity. Drying, with a little more astringency to the finish, although the wine never really rises beyond medium weight, nor, unfortunately, medium length in finish. It’s still a perfectly lovely wine to drink now, but I’m not convinced there’s true improvement to come. Drink over the next five to ten years happily, but it’s not a top Bdx if that’s what you’re after.

  • Deep ruby, but beginning to fade at the rim.
    A heavily pronounced blackfruited nose, lead by blackcurrant with blackberry and subdued herbal aromatics of mint and leaf.
    The palate heads more toward concentrated and dried black fruits and black olives.The oak here is playing more of a supporting role, while the tannins are fine and integrated. I'm finding the 14°ABV bringing some noticeable heat.But that is getting nit picky.
    Certainly superior in both body, and flavour intensity than the other Glengyle released from the 2007 vintage. (See my tasting note 15/07/2015)
    All in all a high quality red wine.
    I'd say it's in the optimum drinking window through to 2025 .

  • {screwcap, 14%} Deep ruby red still. Beautiful, intense nose, partly developed, of currents, dark green herbs, buried spicy oak, and a malty, black fruit sheen. Rich palate, full-bodied for cabernet, with medium dusty tannins of a vanillan note, medium acidity, and ripe black fruit less developed than the nose implies, although still channelling the same flavour profile. Dark green, but not in a bad way. This is still very youthful really, but has a tight-packed quality, suggesting it’ll bloom wonderfully in another, oh, eight to ten years or so. Very good. No decant, but it mightn’t have made much difference at this age.

  • Gorgeous Aussie Cab. Intense fruit but in proportion. Hint of green. Fine tannin. Faded slightly over an hour of drinking as the acids increased. Should have been decanted. Long finish.

  • {screwcap, 14%} Twigs, herbs currants. Black aromas, with olive. Youthful. Palate has sweet cabernet fruit, with a touch of characteristic Oz eucalypt, medium/full fine powdery tannins, bright acid, medium weight, and a lingering, savoury dry finish, but one which didn't disguise the ripeness of the fruit. A warmish sensation lingered, recapitulating the currant fruit, chocolatey but discreet oak, and fine tannin. I liked that it had some authentic cabernet greenness, but without the hard edge in the previous week's Moss Wood offering. Classy wine, but one which is too young, and possibly even a bit sullen, although without the decant it probably deserves. Has another decade in front of it easily.
