  • ESTG does Pegau-Palooza (Seattle, WA, USA): Deep, figgy, and intense on the nose, late harvest aromatics, wow, wow, wow. So long. Despite the ripeness on the nose, the palate features amazingly vibrant red fruit, pure, concentrated Grenache.

  • California Wine Weekend; 12/1/2023-12/3/2023 (Mos Eisley Cantina & Waterhouse Restaurant): Part of a blind flight. Showed fairly ox'd and faded unfortunately.

  • Kleur: Fluwelig oranjerood met een brede rand. Aroma / bouquet: Fantastisch gelaagd bouquet, een hint van bosaardbeitjes, donker gedroogd fruit, ontbijtkoek, zacht zoete kruidigheid. Smaak / Afdronk: Bijzonder complexe bejaarde Ch9dP. Zachte zuurgraad, romig mondgevoel. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 13 + Smaak / Afdronk: 14 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 90/100

i] Colour: Velvety orange-red with a wide edge. Aroma / bouquet: Fantastic layered bouquet, a hint of wild strawberries, dark dried fruit, gingerbread, soft sweet spiciness. Taste / Aftertaste: Particularly complex elderly Ch9dP. Soft acidity, creamy mouthfeel. In the aftertaste, this Rhône powerhouse unfortunately shows a sharp and hard bitter-sour edge. General / potential: Too bad. I fear that 1) either the development potential of this wine has been slightly overestimated 2) or I was unlucky in purchasing this wine. 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 13 + Taste / Aftertaste: 14 + General / potential: 8 = 90/100

  • Burnt dark fruit and meat on the nose. Fresher on the palate but it just seems like this was pushed a little too far. Overall pretty disappointing.

  • Les Trois garcons chez Lukas: Powerhouse! Almost a caricature of an over the top, full throttle, no limits wine. Every dial is on 110%. Intense nose of very ripe fruit, chark, truffle, all-spice and pepper. Also lots of herbal, medicinal stuff. On the palate likewise exuberant fruit, spice and quite a lot of heat. Drinks like a dry port. One glass is enough, almost. Still, since everything is on max, in balance. Quite an impressive experience, but really, too much!

Still not showing much age. Might soften some with another decade or two, but I wouldn’t count on it.
