Didn’t have enough time and focus open to give this a proper evaluation but I can say this was not showing any signs of negative aging. Had a nice natural honeyed quality, decent acidity, and good mineral that indicated this would open up nicely if given the proper time and attention and some good food to go along with. A lot here and definitely wanted to give it up but another wine that was finished within the hour or so.

Zoom blind tasting #2 (At home during circuit breaker): Very nice, in a rather mature, old-school Burg way, with sweet aromas of nutty almond brittle and caramel floating alongside some really ripe red apple and stone fruit notes. The palate was similarly old school, with butter and honey drizzled over a core of ripe apples shading into peach and nectarines, maybe even pineapple territory, and then a little stream of toasty almonds and chalky mineral on a nice, lengthy finish. This was really quite nice - the warmth and ripeness of the 2003 vintage came through, but there was a surprising decent balance to it, with a little spring of acidity keeping it well-poised throughout. About time to drink-up though - this does not quite have the freshness and structure for the very long-term.
We had this with baked breaded Cod on 5/10/09. It was terrific with peach, pear, lemon zest, honey and mineral aromas. The palate followed with pear, peach, apple, lemon zest, chalk and iodine. It had a long (I didn’t measure) tasty finish…EXCELLENT! I really don’t understand the professional ratings on this one!
