  • With hindsight, we can say that 2002 was a strong candidate for the greatest vintage of Denogent, that was powerful and delicious on release and then got even better with age. The question I pondered upon opening this 14 year old wine was whether it was also the greatest aging of the Denogent wines. No subsequent vintage has held up better and none has reached the peak this 2002 has. The color is an amazingly clear bright yellow with zero brown. The nose combines the fragrant smells of a honeysuckle vine at the height of its bloom season, a juicy fresh cut apricot, and a just baked lemon meringue pie. The mouth feel of the sipped wine is luxuriantly caressing and supremely mouth coating, which sets up an endlessly long aftertaste following the swallow. Overall, one of the greatest mature Chardonnays I have ever had, that has matured into something radically different than the superb taste of the young wine, yet manages to be even greater - concentrated, multilayered, and seamlessly intense and rich.

  • Floral, vanilla, nice structure. Perfect starter to a great spring meal.

  • Simply amazing, and exactly what you want white burgundy to be. The fruit exhibits modest nashi qualities, with a mineral backbone and crisp acidity. Almost a slaty nose. I wish I could find more of this wine.
