Spanish monestrell is Mouverde. Second more popular in Spain after tempranillo. Deeper plum, licorice than mouverde. Blackberries, pepper, fresh herbs and leather. Highly tannic.

15% alcohol; imported by Winebow, Inc., New York City; cork is plastic with an aroma of cork and hay, maximum wine penetration of 1 mm; light-weight foil; no vintage on the label although Wine Spectator's Thomas Matthews 92 point tasting is advertised and dated January 15, 2020, just before the Covid pandemic overwhelmed us, suggesting that the wine is a 2019 or 2018 vintage; medium to long legs, very dark red/purple; nose of alcohol, tannins, and dark stone fruit and dark berries; this full-bodied wine was opened, vinturied, and tasted 20 minutes later at about 16 degrees C; a full bodied wine with impactful tannins and sour fruit essence, which suggest further cellaring; the berries and stone fruit lie on the tongue through the medium finish, never turning sweet or bitter; a pairing with food is difficult as the wine stlll seems young, maybe with cheeses; its potential has yet to be realized; my score of 89 reflects its current state
