Label wine notes: 'soft earth tones ... robust raspberry and plum finish with legs for days.' To me: muted nose, oak, and alcohol. But admittedly, I'm not a big American-style syrah fan.

This was the 2007 Basel Cellars Syrah. A bit too (basic) Southern Hemisphere in style, too ripe for my liking, but smooth and quaffable. The 14.5% alcohol is noticeable. Certainly a crowd-pleaser. 87+

Lush blackberry, cacao, espresso, fine tannins. Nice medium finish.

I think this is just getting better and better. Blackberry, mocha, dusty tannins; very good especially at this price.

Oh, drinking so very nicely right now. Black currant, sweet oak, good acidity.
