The 2007 Donnas Valle d’ Aosta was part of a nebbiolo tasting which included 4 different wines. The color was a mahogany red with medium viscosity. The nose provided plum, black pepper, and sour cherry. The mouth feel was light with medium tannins, which were light for a 2007 nebbiolo. The taste provided flavors of tar and plum. Not a fan of this wine. Score 83

We had a number of different Nebbiolo based wines from all over northwestern Italy tonight, most of which I had never tasted before. This wine comes from the coolest area grapes are grown anywhere in the world and frankly it tastes a bit like it. I found it pleasant enough as a quaffer but relatively uninteresting. Seems like under-ripe Nebbiolo and that's just what it is. It's light to medium translucent garnet. It has a good deal of pepper on the nose and some light plum. It is light and fruity on the palate with the plum and some sour cherry dominating. There is some tannic backbone but not much and it finished with some pepper and tar.

Really great, ethereal mountain Nebbiolo that opened up in the decanter over a few hours. Rippling acidity, rich high-toned fruit. So glad I held onto it.

This wine is not from Piemonte
The correct region is Valle d'Aosta

Brighter and more enjoyable day one; somewhat flat over next few days. Eh.
