Had the 2009 Keefer Ranch about a week ago and thought that was better than this. The difference isn't that huge, but the Keefer was a bit richer, longer finish. This was of course still a very nice wine and went well with the scallops I made. Lush, in a good spot, drink up.

Served with Rosalie's home-cooked birthday dinner, a pepper-crusted tuna served over a soba noodle salad. The food had a bit of a bite to it, and this worked wonderfully with it. Bright golden color, a bit deeper than a younger Gary Farrell chardonnay. Lots of pears on the nose, with some toast and honeysuckle. The wine was smooth and round in the mouth, with pears, cooked pears and apples, with oak present but restrained. Long, pleasant finish. This was a classic rendition of California chardonnay, in the best sense. Rochioli fruit probably helped.

Really nice oily, saline mouthfeel. Rich but subtle at the same time. Buttery but not overly do, and not a lot of obvious oak either. Overall, nothing overdone or too striking. Really reserved and beautiful.

Ditto my comments from a year go. I'd say that it's now at its peak. A very nice wine. Now it's on to the 2010 Rochioli!

Maturing nicely. Good mineral, acidity, a bit saline, rounded stone fruit with citrus accents. Pretty well balanced.
