  • Been a long time since I had this. Purchased in France at the Marche aux Vins. Absolutely at peak. Wonderful hermitage with meaty and dark fruits. Plenty of gamey notes. Tannins quite resolved and the wine is nearly seamless. Finish is excellent. Not quite at the level of Chave's Hermitage but that is quite the compliment here. Generally I've preferred the Assembelage bottling but this is so good and full of character I will have to revist that prior conclusion.

  • Pretty classic Faurie and old schooled Hermitage. Certainly not as clean nor seamless as Chve. Think the meaty, dare I say bloody, iron styled Hermitage. I haven't had side by side but young usually prefer the assembelage over the SV bottlings. This has more character than the assembelage but find the assembelage more balanced. Wine is still young but perfectly approachable. Oh there is no way to tell which bottlng one has except by the tiny lot #s.
