Came across as a bit light and awkward. There was a definate note of green pepper to the nose. Not a lot of fruit, but not a lot of development in the bottle either. Tasted over a few hours and showed little improvement, the green notes receeded a bit by the end but were still present. Dont think it is in a dumb phase, just appears to be little going on with it.

Deep garnet/brickish in color. Aromas of plum, mellow fruit. Dry, meduim in body with medium tannins that have rounded nicely. Slightly off balanced with plum fruit in the front disapating mid-palate followed by a slightly over oaked finish. Probably hard to find more bottles of this vintage, but reccomend the Josh Cellars 07, 09 Amber knolls cab as an alternative and a better price point.

(The Seventy Five Wine Company Cabernet Sauvignon Amber Knolls Vineyard) Deep red violet color; somewhat herbaceous, cherry nose; ripe cherry palate with sweet, minty tannins; medium finish
(AMBER KNOLLS 75 Wine CO Beckst.) Beckstoffer Cabernet Dear Friends, This is another offer I’m almost afraid to put out but here goes... Last years 2004 Seventy Five Wine Co “Amber Knolls” Cabernet was one of the best deals in a long time for quasi-boutique California Cabernet - the Beckstoffer pedigree was obvious (the WA90 didn’t hurt either although I would have rated it closer to 85, which is still a high rating from me). I’m happy to report the vines in 2005 are a year older and the wine is much more than the 2004 delivered with a well-deserved price increase to match from the regal and surprisingly balanced 2005 vintage. This has to represent one of California’s finest and most ambitious efforts. We get more requests for California Cabernet than almost anything else but as most of you know we only offer a few per year (if at all). I have numerous reasons for that decision but this is a wine I am more than happy to support. It is priced right, delivers exceptional quality for the price and does so without any pretension, attitude or other - all with the same attention to detail and the dedication of the Beckstoffer family firmly behind it. The 2005 Amber Knolls is what it is - a very good wine for those looking for relatively inexpensive California Cabernet - expect a very well made wine that is trying to over-deliver for the price. Plain and simple - one of the best deals going in California Cabernet and a wine sure to vanish from the market quickly. Take advantage: Please note: This is California Cabernet it is not Loire Cabernet Franc - it is not for the oak-shy or alcohol adverse. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY 2005 - 75 Wine Company Cabernet “Beckstoffer Amber Knolls” (Lake County) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA CA8500 ------ End of Forwarded Message
