I was disappointed with this wine. Well it is definitely Barbera, but personally I don't think it's a good example. Sometimes the top Barolo producers try to do too much with it. Barbera is a like a nice dog, simple and friendly. This example tries too hard and loses the friendly warm welcoming character of the grape.

Last bottle...always bitter sweet! This is fantastico! With age, this has become more Claret in style...soft and dusty tannins showcasing ripe dark berry fruits strapped in leather...silky smooth, polished stones, sweet port-like viscosity, yet classically Italian pucker of minerality and wood barrel dryness. Licorice and dried bing cherries...tar and rose petal florals wallow in harmony...little sour skin kick and orange spritz liven...beautifully aged to a graceful pleasure. Couldn't ask for more from this immensely pleasurable bottle!

Nice color. Nose with some earth and blackberry. Lots of acidity and brightness up front, with some strawberry rhubarb pie and a touch of tar. Kind of short finish.

Nice red fruit, slight rustic oak. Good acidity and texture, lacking a bit of length.
