  • Reticent red fruits, anise, thyme, pebble. Super savory finish that goes on and on. Very much a more inward looking wine and elegant but with still plenty of tannin and medium full bodied without being overly anything, but this is certainly not mistakable for Barolo. But this is more along the lines of Barbaresco, classic Brunello, or Montevertine. Day 2 was even more open knit, so no rush, but ready to drink as well.

  • A subtle, delicate nose, redolent of wet rock, oriental spice, redcurrants, and a hint of earthiness. Supple, elegant, and well-integrated on the palate, with a long, lingering spiciness complementing the aromas detected in the bouquet. With aeration, it reveals depth and poise of fruit, invigorated with a palate cleansing acidity. A very grown-up wine, that is played on elegance rather than extraction.

    From old vines.

Altogether, a very good Austrian red, though not especially good value for the money. Will keep and definitely needs food. I drank it with a Tafelspitz and that was a rather successful pairing.
