  • Considering this is their entry level bottling of Chardonnay it has held up extremely well and perhaps even improved. Where you once found fresh apples and spice, you now find apple crisp and honey. The acidity shines through and the combination of french and american oak adds subtle complexity.

I believe this wine is universally appealing (or close to), underrated (it offers great value, especially in the face of their perhaps overpriced pinot line) and surprisingly durable. Enjoy for the next year!

  • Like this a lot. Bought a case for summer eves. In the way that the best wines from this area do, it bridges the gap between new world fruit and old world flavors with that resplendent Okanagan minerality. A bit sweet and buttery right now, but I believe that will firm up with more time in the bottle--it def as the stuffing to hang around for awhile. Question is, will I be able to keep my hands off 'em? Don't bet on it.

  • Nice example of chard without being over oaken...Maybe this need to mellow a little over next couple of years. NOse is lighter with some carmel/pear tones. Palate is nice balance of rich mouth feel, a tad sweet, with similar notes. Don't get a lot of woody notes as maybe suggested per last note. Finish lingers nicely with light white/stone fruit. 18$ @ MLCC

  • Pale lemon-white colour. The nose is mostly oak. Caramel, spiced pear, butter. Medium bodied, with moderate acidity. This might be a little oak heavy at this stage with that buttery caramel character enveloping some orchard fruit. Had this with olive oil poached cod and oven-roasted tomatoes. A nice pair, the acidic juice of the tomatoes lifted some of the weight of the oak flavours. I'd hope with a couple years of bottle age evening it out, you might not need the tomatoes! This is just an entry-level from Quail's Gate & while it might be a tad overdone, it definitely met my expectations. Makes me think I should splurge for their higher end stuff though.
