Nose is dominated by kerosene and honey. Palate is quite broad, shows some development with the fruit flavours although there is some overall freshness. Not getting any better.

Blind Tasting - Battle of the States: Floral, musk, some kero, spice and earth. Medium length. Nicely balanced with a touch of sweetness about it. Drinking nicely now.

][ {screwcap, 12.5%, A$22} I tasted this at CD when it was a new release, but all the tight lime fruit aroma has disappeared to be replaced by an oddly musky note. The searing acidity I recalled has taken a back seat to an almost Alsatian/glycerol furriness but which leaves the wine a bit flabby for me. Could be in a trough – Oz riesling at 3 years old is a problematic animal – so I’ll keep the remaining bottle for future research. Overall, though, I was a little disappointed. This is from a pretty cool-climate region but doesn’t reflect it in the bottle.
