  • They raised the price from $4 to $5 when they changed the vintage, but this is still one of the best values around. This does not taste like a value wine. Somehow the Chenin Blanc marries up well with the Chardonnay, making something much better as a whole, than either could do by itself. The color is rich golden. The nose has a good whiff of lemon/lime and spiced apples. Surprisingly vibrant fresh white fruit on the palate with grapefruit, pear, and apple. Decent viscosity with big mouth feel. The Granny Smith Apple acid profile is a little artificial, but it works OK. The finish is considerably more intense than you would expect from this price point, with grapefruit, lemon, crushed tree root, and some brown spice.
