  • Decanted for a couple of hours. Really closed and just showing basic sour cherry characters. The acid was almost unbearable but 24 hours later the wine looks considerably better. It's kind of bizzare that an entry level Burgundy seemingly has plenty of life in it. After much delay the wine is revealed. Since I've waited so long i was hoping for more but there's not alot to it. I'm not going to rush out and grab another bottle but it would be interesting to revisit in a bottle in a few years. Not bad for $30 aus.

  • Served with smoked pork and it was a great pairing. The wine is more fruit forward than some Burgundies but still has some grit and earth tones that complemented the meal nicely. Finish was a bit underwhelming. Good time to drink these.

  • Opened tonight with a dinner of seared duck breasts and roasted potatoes. Still pretty primary by my lights, it tasted of tart cherry fruit but rounded out a bit with air. I'll give my other bottle another couple of years to round into form.

  • The "Sonoma pinot" comment below is quite astute, as this pinot has a creaminess that becomes more evident with air and is unexpected given the origin. That said, I was still quite pleased with this, as it didn't do the things I dislike about Sonoma pinot (tasting like pinot-by-way-of-syrah, unwelcome sweetness, etc.). There was good fruit, some acid, and enough secondary flavors that this played quite nicely with food. Maybe a good gateway wine for more New World drinkers who want to get into Burgundy.

  • Strawberries, soil/dirt, cherry pit on the nose. A little overly subtle on the palate at first but, with an hour of air, the wine gained in intensity. Cherries, cherry pit, some creaminess dominate on the palate. Well balanced. Good on second day too. Quite simple but very satisfying for what it is. Reminded me somewhat of a sonoma coast pinot. Good value.
