Leiden tasting: last one before the holidays: Judging from the almost purple color this is clearly a very young wine. At the moment it is still very primary and not giving very much. The mid-palate is however full with promise: very clean fruit, minerality, acidity, good round tannins. This clearly is infanticide, but it is very instructive how well 2009 grand cru's drink very young, while this 2010 grand cru is in hiding. We learned that this had just been bottled which may also have played a role. This will be beautiful in future I guess, but due to my lack of experience with such young wines I cannot rate it.
Tasted pre-release. Made from 80 year old vines, this one had a nose of coca cola, liquorice, and mixed spices. Flavours of minerals, peaches and mixed berries. This came with manuka honey at the end and a short finish.
