First of all .... Planked salmon (esp Copper River) and a nice pinot are absolutely made for each other. One of the best food pairings I have ever experienced. This Miner pinot is light ruby in color with medium body. No discernible fruit on the nose, maybe some strawberry and raspberry layered on an earthy base. It tries to go fruity on the initial sip but mid palate evolves into a spicy, quite complex, acidic heavier leather taste that hangs on for long time. It is almost like a light Cabernet. Pinot from a big Cab house--no big surprise there. I'm sure the winemaker built this for aging and I'd say he was reasonably successful. We liked this the more we drank it. Very good, just not great.

Reading other reviews I wasn't expecting much but now I think others may have had a flawed bottle.
Decanted about 1 1/2 hours. Nothing medicinal on the nose, rather hints of rose, fresh flowers and light red fruit. Initial taste was lots of strawberry with a hint of pepper. Was very light for a typical Miner Pinot but very enjoyable.
Paired with a port and black bean soup that made this wine very good. Drinking well and an enjoyable experience.

Opened up nicely after opening. Glad I cellared. Dark fruit, hints of cinnamon

Steely nose with hints of candied apple. Nice acid from skins balances out blueberry and cinnamon and light cherries. Delicious.
