2005 JACQUART BRUT MILLESIME- IMHO, this 05` was one of the better releases of the vintage; I even have placed in the quality category of Taittinger`s Comtes de Champagne; it has wonderful balance, consistently pleasing floral and citrus notes in the nose and taste profile and bright acidity.

Dinner at Chris & Chris'. Didn't take detailed notes at the time but was very enjoyable. Some of the richness that vintage Champers gets with age without being too dark and oxidized. More hazelnut and toast than lemon and grass. Long finish.

Drank for an immigrant celebration--wife got her green card. Drank by itself, but this would be very good with food. Lots of toast/yeast, acidity, and minerality. Very nice.

We probably need several more years experiencing champagne before we fully appreciate a bottle like this. That said, this represents the bitter astringent version that has always led us away from champagne. Lovely color and bubbles, though. Very citrus and tart on the palette, but nothing that truly makes it stand out it to us in the way others have appreciated. An 85 for us.

Great Champers and showing its age more gracefully than other vintage Champagne does. Complex and harmonious.
